About Me
I am a New York City–based psychotherapist credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. I completed my degree in clinical social work at Fordham University and I am presently in formation in as an analytic candidate at Pulsion Institute (The International Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychosomatics). As a candidate, I am able to offer low-fee psychoanalytic treatment for patients seeking a deeper and more intensive treatment approach.
I have extensive experience working in an East Village community mental health providing care to people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Throughout my career I have worked with patients struggling with issues ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive compuslive disorders, phobias, inhibitions, identity questions, sexual dysfunctions, creative blocks, workplace and relationship problems and so on. Whatever the diagnosis, I have always found every case is unique and deserving of deep curiosity and sustained attention to the particular context and challenges that shape a person’s life.
In addition to my clinical work, I have served in supervisory roles, supporting other clinicians in developing thoughtful, ethically grounded practices of their own.
My Approach
Many people come to therapy feeling stuck or trapped in ways that are difficult to explain. They have often tried my other avenues to find help and none-the-less find themselves repeating the same painful patterns, suffering from the same symptoms, and bogged down in the same intractable problems. I aim to help my patients encounter their problems and themselves in a new way, opening up fresh possibilities for change and self-discovery.
Working from a distinctly psychoanalytic orientation, I invite patients to speak freely and openly, without pressure to perform or arrive at quick solutions. I listen closely to how patients describe their experiences with an ear toward the underlying conflicts, fantasies, and unconscious dynamics that contribute to their difficulties. While the work can be supportive, it is also exploratory, aimed not only at relieving distress but at fostering greater self-understanding, freedom, and flexibility in one’s life.
I have a particular interest in psychosomatic experience, or how emotional life is expressed through the body. When physical symptoms such as tension, pain, or fatigue are part of someone’s experience, I approach them with the same care and curiosity, understanding them as meaningful aspects of a person’s inner world.
